Murat Yünlü was born in Istanbul. He graduated from the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University, in 2000. He completed his master’s degree in Economics at North Carolina State University between 2010 and 2012.
He began his career as an Assistant Expert at the Financial Crimes Investigation Board and as a Junior Customs Inspector at the Undersecretariat of Customs. Between 2003 and 2013, he served as a Treasury Controller at the Prime Ministry Undersecretariat of Treasury. From 2002 to 2012, he participated in audits of World Bank projects as Assistant Auditor, Auditor, and Lead Auditor, ensuring compliance with international auditing standards. During the same period, he also conducted compliance and performance audits of funds provided by the European Union. Between 2012 and 2013, he served as Senior Auditor and Audit Team Leader at the Audit Authority responsible for auditing the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) Transition Support and Institutional Building component in accordance with international auditing standards. While serving as Deputy Chairman of the Treasury Controllers Board between 2013 and 2014, he was appointed as Head of the Accounting Standards Department at our Institution in 2014. Since August 2017, he has been serving as Vice Chairman. He holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an Independent Auditor license.
He is married, has two children. He is proficient in English.
