Disaster risk management specialist

With 17 years of field experience in disaster risk management with the United Nations across multiple countries, Erdem Ergin returned to Turkey in 2014. His field work (scenarios, simulations, crisis center, training, etc.) have contributed to a reduction of 80% in disaster related casualties. He gradually transitioned from field work to project management and business development to develop a risk culture within institutions. He used his expertise to develop results-oriented and sustainable earthquake preparedness solutions tailored for the private sector. Mr. Ergin holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Middle East Technical University (2000), a master’s degree in Crisis and Emergency Management from The George Washington University (2004), and a master’s degree in Resilient Cities from Harvard University (2013).
